Wet/Dry Riser Maintenance
Wet and dry risers are installed in buildings, usually during the building’s construction phase, for firefighting purposes. They provide a way to quickly deliver large quantities of water to upper storeys of a building to extinguish or to prevent the spread of fire.
Dry Riser Systems comprise of valves and pipework which can be charged with water by pumping from external sources such as the Fire Service.
Wet Riser Systems comprise of valves and pipework which are permanently charged with water from a pumped source.
All building which have fire risers should have the systems visually inspected at least every six months and pressure tested annually.
Wet risers are more prone to damage due to water leakage which can cause rusting and corrosion and therefore pump inspection services are recommended twice a year.
The responsibility for this testing lies with the landlord of the property or the Management Company and failure to do so can result in severe penalties.
Paragon Fire and Security Systems provide scheduled maintenance and testing to wet and dry rising fire mains and fire hydrants in accordance with BS9990. Testing is carried out annually by our skilled technicians and also includes the six monthly visual inspections required by BS9990. Our engineers carry out the tests with minimum disruption to your working environment and once completed will issue you with the appropriate certification.
